Clown Day

I got these pictures from Gavin's teacher Miss Julie over the weekend so I wanted to go ahead and post them even if it is way out of order in my catching up.  These are from Clown Day last month at Gavin's school. As you can tell he was REALLY hamming it up for her.

Gavin wanted Clay to paint his face and since I had been responsible for painting Gavin's that morning and not very creative, Clay redid Gavin's as well :-)

Your not a lady

Gavin was sitting in the bathtub last night while I was telling Clay something I can't even remember when I said "lady"

All of the sudden I hear Gavin say, "Your not a lady, your a sister!"

I crack up and Clay of course has a blank stare having no idea where that came from.  And for those of you who don't also....
Netflix has starting having a bunch of the old Disney animated movies that I LOVED as a kid so I force Gavin to watch them once and then he forces us to watch them 100 more times.

Well this quote came from one of my all time faves Aristocats!

Toulouse: Why should you be first?
Marie: Because I'm a lady, that's why.
Toulouse: Ha, you're not a lady.
Berlioz: You're nothin' but a sister!

Other pictures from November 2012

Maybe I'll catch up in the next few months :-)

My little Thanksgiving Indian brave

Merry Marketplace Character breakfast:  It took him a LONG time to warm up to the characters!!

Beautiful day at the park!

2nd Hunting trip, not so successful: Granted Gavin had been to the character breakfast and the park already so he was pretty exhausted...

Helping Pa-pa make mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving

Aunt 'Pril and Uncle Dave reading Elf on a Shelf to Gavin who was not impressed, oh well, maybe next year.  Although I am kind of glad I didn't have to remember to move that stupid elf every night :-)

Picking out our Christmas Tree!!

Excitement wore off FAST!!

Looks like he is plotting evil doesn't it :-)

His favorite part of the whole trip, playing Whack-a-Tree

Ta-Da!!!

Gavin's first hunting trip

Again in November I went to visit a very good friend of mine for a long weekend and left the boys at home!  Clay decided this would be an excellent time to take Gavin on his first hunting trip and thankfully he was not disappointed, although he most certainly was on the 2nd trip :-)

Man I sure do love these guys!!!

Callaway Gardens

At the beginning of November I had a conference to go to at the Callway Gardens Resort & Spa and I decided that Clay and Gavin should go with me and thankfully Clay agreed!  I haven't been to Callaway Gardens since I was in elementary or middle school and I really couldn't remember a thing about it.  Oh my goodness, it was so beautiful even in November!  I can't imagine what it looks like during the spring and summer!

We took a few hundred pictures of our day and a half there so I will try and narrow it down to the top 10 or 20 for you :-)

Guess Who is Potty Trained AND Sleeping in a Big Boy Bed!?!

Even though it is tax season and I am MONTHS behind in my blog posting, Clay and I are still keeping up with the parenting but only by the Grace of God, of course!

For those of you who don't know it, from my random posts on Facebook and such, Gavin is expecting a baby brother or sister in 25 weeks and 4 days! Thank you What to Expect countdown tracker :-).  This pregnancy not only happened much quicker than expected but it has also had lots more of the horrible symptoms.  And for you all that know me even remotely, you know I don't deal with feeling yucky very well or very quietly.  So extra prayers for my most wonderful husband and my precious little boy would be MUCH appreciated by them I am sure :-).

So anyway, once we found out I was pregnant we figured out that there were several things that must be accomplished in the next few months.  And not knowing how it would go I pressed for doing it sooner rather than later.  And boy am I glad we did, not that Gavin didn't do a splendid job but now we get to reap the benefits of no diapers for even longer!!!

We started the potty training in earnest the Monday we got back from our annual trip to the mountains and haven't looked back since.  Although I will say, before I figured out that I needed to set the microwave timer to remind us both to go potty that first weekend, I was worried we wouldn't make it....  We even made it through a weekend of the stomach virus with very few incidents.  We haven't tried going to underwear at night yet, although I am pretty sure we could, I really wanted to wait until we switched him to a big boy bed so he could go to the potty on his own if he needed to in the middle of the night.

Since Gavin will be moving rooms and getting a whole new bed sometime before August, we knew we were going to have to bite the bullet and turn his crib back around so that it was a toddler bed before the transition to a twin.  Last time we attempted this switch to a big boy bed was over a year ago and didn't go well AT ALL.  He has been climbing out of his crib pretty much the entire past year but good sleep is WAY to important to all inhabitants of our house so we put off switching him around until it was absolutely necessary, meaning the cost of a new convertible crib set outweighed the possible loss of sleep.

Well I am overjoyed to report that we switched him back around on Saturday and he is actually sleeping longer now and going down easier than he was before!  Praise God is all I can say because it wasn't anything we did to obtain this result!!

The Rock Ranch

Last month a friend of mine blogged about a family trip they took to the Rock Ranch about 45 minutes from their home in Macon.  And I thought to myself, we should SO do that!! I was dragging Clay and Gavin  to Callaway Gardens while I attended a conference so we decided just to head up a day early and spend it at the Rock Ranch.

It was an absolutely beautiful day!  I wish I had have worn shorts because it ended up being really warm for November.

Gavin attempting the spider web

This super cool slide built into the side of a hill.  Mommy just had to give it a shot....

Next we decided to destroy some pumpkins!  I highly recommend coming after Halloween for this reason, they have tons of fun ways to destroy all of the pumpkins!
