Even though it is tax season and I am MONTHS behind in my blog posting, Clay and I are still keeping up with the parenting but only by the Grace of God, of course!
For those of you who don't know it, from my random posts on Facebook and such, Gavin is expecting a baby brother or sister in 25 weeks and 4 days! Thank you What to Expect countdown tracker :-). This pregnancy not only happened much quicker than expected but it has also had lots more of the horrible symptoms. And for you all that know me even remotely, you know I don't deal with feeling yucky very well or very quietly. So extra prayers for my most wonderful husband and my precious little boy would be MUCH appreciated by them I am sure :-).
So anyway, once we found out I was pregnant we figured out that there were several things that must be accomplished in the next few months. And not knowing how it would go I pressed for doing it sooner rather than later. And boy am I glad we did, not that Gavin didn't do a splendid job but now we get to reap the benefits of no diapers for even longer!!!
We started the potty training in earnest the Monday we got back from our annual trip to the mountains and haven't looked back since. Although I will say, before I figured out that I needed to set the microwave timer to remind us both to go potty that first weekend, I was worried we wouldn't make it.... We even made it through a weekend of the stomach virus with very few incidents. We haven't tried going to underwear at night yet, although I am pretty sure we could, I really wanted to wait until we switched him to a big boy bed so he could go to the potty on his own if he needed to in the middle of the night.
Since Gavin will be moving rooms and getting a whole new bed sometime before August, we knew we were going to have to bite the bullet and turn his crib back around so that it was a toddler bed before the transition to a twin. Last time we attempted this switch to a big boy bed was over a year ago and didn't go well AT ALL. He has been climbing out of his crib pretty much the entire past year but good sleep is WAY to important to all inhabitants of our house so we put off switching him around until it was absolutely necessary, meaning the cost of a new convertible crib set outweighed the possible loss of sleep.
Well I am overjoyed to report that we switched him back around on Saturday and he is actually sleeping longer now and going down easier than he was before! Praise God is all I can say because it wasn't anything we did to obtain this result!!
